We are all on a Journey

My career began when I joined the US Navy at seventeen years old. It was a gift to see the world at such a young age, still though I had more questions than answers. I served as a crew member on three different Naval ships. After receiving an honorable discharge, my training allowed me to work as a blue-collar engineer. I continued my education and training for many years. I realized that to fix or repair mechanical and electrical equipment, I needed to know exactly how it worked.

It was not until I read the Bible for the first time, that I realized, to fix my life I needed to understand exactly how life really worked. Why was I here? Life seemed like a rat race, what’s the point? Who is God, and what does he want with me? Jesus seemed to make an amazing promise, a promise that he was accessible to me! He said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who ask receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8) I said to myself, “everyone, everyone Jesus, wow!” Everyone who ask receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened… I thought, I am part of everyone, so Jesus is saying that I can reach him, that he is accessible to me, that I can talk to him, that he will answer me, and that he will answer my questions.

Since this period, I have been in the ministry for 26 years: As a Religious Volunteer, an Assistant Pastor, a Pastor, and currently a Christian Chaplain. My wife, Kathleen Foster and I are happily married, and have enjoyed living on the West Coast in California, Oregon, and Washington. Along the way, I received a Bachelor’s degree in religion, and a Master’s degree in theological and biblical studies. All I ever really needed though was Jesus and the Bible. Jesus was right! If a person seeks him with an open honest heart, they will find him. It all makes sense now!
